God created you in his own image, He wants you to look good, he cares about your appearance and he has given us details in the bible about how we are to dress in a way that pleases him. The bible tells us in 1 timothy 2:19 that women should dress in a modest way, this means that we are not to go out of our way to meet up with the trends of the current world. Do not get me wrong am not saying that you should not look good, what am simply saying is that if you cannot afford to buy new summer season clothes, you are free to wear last summer’s clothes. This also means that we are to make efforts to reach out to people who are in need, rather than fulfilling our selfish desires of looking trendy or in vogue.
The bible also tell us in 1 Corinthians 6:19, that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and that we are not our own. This means that we are not to treat our body with disrespect by wearing clothes that reveal parts of the body that God has designed for only our husbands. This means that we are not to wear clothes that are too tight that other men are seduced once they see us, rather than focusing on who we are in Christ. Therefore, please seek the Lord if you are not sure that your clothes are against the will of God or not.
The bible also tells us in Matthew 25:1-12 about the 10 wise virgins waiting for the bridegroom, I also want to encourage women to wait for the return of Christ by dressing in a way that pleases God. This means that when people see us, they will see Christ and not our bodies. This means that we can enter his gates with thanksgiving knowing that He is pleased with the way we dress.
The bible also tells us in John 17:16 that we are simply visitors in this world, and that our final home is heaven. This means that we are not to follow what the circular celebrities are doing on the media, we are simply to follow our perfect example, which is Jesus Christ. Obviously we cannot be perfect, but we have to make efforts towards ensuring that we have the mind of Christ and not the mind of any circular celebrities. This does not mean that Jesus loves you less, is just that God has a standard and it can never be lowered for any man.
